Bear with me…

…because i think this video is pretty cool.

Yes, it’s animated and a little weird. But, it has a cool message about freedom.

I found it posted on the blog - The Spirit of Man - run by a “Canada based Pro-America, Pro-Israel Iranian neo-conservativ” who is seeking regime change in Iran.

Besides the video, there’s some pretty good stuff on the student movement inside Iran to overthrow the crazed madmen who are running the nation.

We agree.

Freedom’s Watch has launched some new television and print ads to say, “Thanks!” to all the troops keeping us safe during this holiday season. We’d like to second that.

From all College Republicans, thank you to all the men and women serving us at home and abroad, risking their lives to preserve freedom.

Now, for some video:

Mr. Scrouge…

…has an alter ego, and his name is Sen. Harry Reid (D).

Yes, Sen. Reid and the Democrat’s in charge are going to be responsible for the layoffs of US Army civilian employees right before Christmas because they refuse to pass a defense funding bill.

This is not only disgusting politics on Sen. Reid’s part (putting political maneuvering above good governance), but one has to wonder at what point our national security will come into jeopardy as the military is forced into bankruptcy by the Democrats.

The Surge from Campaign Spot

Gallup has some interesting news on the public perception of the surge in Iraq, National Review has a word on it here

HAHAHAHAHA!

“I know that Congress has low approval ratings. I wouldn’t approve of Congress, because we haven’t done anything.” Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D)

This video is hilarious and informative at the same time.

Rep. Eric Cantor’s (R) new media team has been very active. These are things that CRs could be making constantly to fill a major void in the GOP’s campaign apparatus. I really encourage CRs around the nation to go grab iMovie, Final Cut Pro, or some other video editing software, and start cutting some clever YouTube videos.

The Future is Embraced

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Everyone has their qualms or outright bad things to say about the CNN/YouTube Deabte, but despite the flaws the format of having citizens interact directly with presidential candidates is an amazing advancement for democracy.

Now, we learn that of the three general election debates, at least one will include questions from the people:

The second departure from past CPD formats will be the introduction of internet access to the presidential town meeting debate. Questions solicited by Internet will be included with those from citizens on the stage with the candidates.

Yes, that’s right - the commission that puts together all the plans for the general election debates has recognized the extraordinary popularity (4.5 million viewers for the GOP YouTube debate, 5,000 questions asked), and has included questions submitted over the internet in the plans for the town hall debate.

We advance towards the future…

BAM! Bob’s back in it!

Having gone to school in Denver for four years, I still keep tabs on Colorado politics as much as possible. Next year, Colorado will play host to the DNC convention for what will surely be a fun-filled week of imposing their left-wing values on a center-right population.

Colorado is also home to what some people say will be the most important U.S. Senate election in the nation (an arguable point, but it will be top 5ish without a doubt). The conventional wisdom inside the beltway has been that Rep. Mark Udall (D-Boulder) is heavily favored to win the seat being vacated by Sen. Wayne Allard (R). Republicans will nominate former Congressman Bob Schaffer, a thoughtful conservative (ACU, Human Events), and someone who represents mainstream Coloradoans.

It might be time for the Dems to take another look at the facts, however. A recent poll conducted by Rasmussen shows shows Congressman Schaffer leading the race. It also shows most Republican presidential nominees leading Hillary Clinton. The races are close - Schaffer’s lead is a slight 1% - but this is encouraging news for the campaign and GOPers around the country. Remember, too, that Colorado has a significant GOP voter registration advantage over the Dems.

One poll is no reason to become complacent, but with Hillary on the ballot, and Congressman Schaffer doing an effective job spreading his message of individual freedom and fiscal responsibility we have reason to be hopeful.

This will be one to watch. Go get’em Congressman!

Some are slow learners

Sen. Harry Reid (D) is among them. He’s done it again:

“The surge hasn’t accomplished its goals,” Reid said. “… We’re involved, still, in an intractable civil war.”

This Politico.com article has it all, but the gist of it is that Reid refuses, despite even Rep. John “War Crimes” Murtha’s (D) recent acknowledgment, to admit that the new strategy in Iraq is working. It’s sad really when someone hopes for defeat so badly, that they can’t even admit that a 70% decline in violence in Iraq since June (and that was way back in October) is a good thing…poor Harry.

Bracketing…It’s For Every CR!

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

We all remember the giant Flip-Flops and Flipper the dolphin trailing John Kerry around to his fundraisers, speeches, and rallies. They were so eager to help the good Senator, that they seemed to never leave his side and were constantly appearing on TV to represent his positions.

Of course, Flipper couldn’t have done it all by himself, he needed CRs to don the costume and trot into enemy territory - but hey, that’s what we’re for! CRs are made to do bracketing events!

The post below captures a perfect example of the Rhode Island CRs pulling off a spectacular bracketing event. They took an issue that Hillary really didn’t need to have in the press, and made it the story of the event by injecting some dry humor into the situation and having a few dozen CRs there to make he point. Congrats!

Bracketing is like putting bookends on either side of an opponent’s event to make sure that the story coming out deals not with how great a fundraiser Hillary had, but instead that she has always been a supporter of the war and will continue to be. The purpose is to expose the truth to the people watching at home, and humor usually is the most effective way of accomplishing this in a short 10 second shot on the nightly news.

College Republicans nationwide should be engaging their local political scene with such bracketing events. Don’t wait until next fall to get started; now is the time to excite your membership, dust off that old Flipper costume, and storm the enemy’s barricades! The public deserves to hear the truth!

PS: Remember to always bring your video camera (or digital camera at the very, very least) and capture the whole thing on film. Do a little editing for quality’s sake and throw it up on YouTube for the world to see. You can then include the link in any post-event press releases.
