This weekend, Will Crosswell (National Field Director) and I spent our time with Missouri College Republicans at their State Convention! Its been an awesome time with a great group of CR’s. Almost 100 students were in attendance. Their incrdible lineup of speakers included Congressman Kenny Hulshof; Governor Blunt’s Chief of Staff Ed Martin; and John Hancock (he fired Karl Rove before Rove’s climb to fame!).
MOCR’s newly elected officers are:
Jeremy Hagen, State Chairman
Amy Kaufmann, Vice-Chairman
Kristen, Treasurer
Rachel Hassani, Secretary
Justin Smith, Executive Director
After a lunch of subs underneath the famous St. Louis Arch, Jeremy took a few minutes to share a little about MOCR’s upcoming year…
I am currently waiting for the start of the GACR Convention this evening (where yours truly will say a few words about the fine state of Georgia College Republicans and discuss some CRNC programs).
After meeting with some folks this morning I have made my way to National Treasurer Esther Clarks couch to drop a few lines about this weekends events. GACR is expecting 80 people for tonights dinner and 100 for tomorrows business meeting. Speakers include State Party Chairman Sue Everhart, Lt Governer Casey Cagle, Ralph Reed (a CRNC Alum) and several others.
Esther is unopposed in her second term as State Chairman. Her ticket includes Jesse Tyler (Vice-Chairman), and Michelle Timmins (Financial Secretary). Interestingly GACR has only 3 elected offices.

Congrats to Senator McCain! We look forward to your candidacy and your presidency.
I’m here at the Minnesota College Republican convention in Minneapolis, MN. We are into day two of the convention. Last night they began the event with a welcome dinner which included speeches by their State Party Chairman, the Minority leaders of both their state house and state senate and several candidates for U.S. Congress. This morning they’ve been addressed by several more speakers, and are getting ready now to elect new state wide leadership for the organization.
I hope that everyone had a great time at CPAC this year! College Republicans really had a great effort at the conference, and we were all very happy here in the national office to see everyone.
Thanks for coming and I hope that you all made it home safely. See you all again soon!
With the STORM network readying to launch, we are extremely excited to launch a new and powerful SMS recruitment system nationwide. Now signing up for your local CR chapter isn’t tied to a recruitment table or event, every CR across the country is empowered to sign up their friends and peers with nothing more then a smile and a cell phone.
If you have someone who wants to get signed up for College Republicans is as easy as texting CRNC Full Name Email (school email preferred) and Zip to 30364
Chapters across the country have a great opportunity to find some new faces in new places (pardon the rhyme). Email this code out to your members and ask them to invite one student from a class they have to sign up using their cell phone. Then, on Feb 4th when Storm launches you’ll have a head start with some new, excited activists on campus.
I spoke at a panel hosted by Campus Progress this morning talking about the youth vote and what it means in 2008. My fellow panelists from the CDA, Rock the Vote and CIRCLE had some interesting points, I thought it was a fun little session. And while I don’t always agree with their politics, it was nice to hear what other groups are doing. Rock the Vote is doing some interesting things online, CIRCLE is taking on a very interesting challenge in how to get accurate data from a difficult to reach demographic. It was a very cordial, fun panel. Conversation focused on what issues and factors motivate young voters. Hopefully, it will be made available online soon. You can now watch it here.
Stumbled across this trailer for a new documentary on Former RNC Chairman (and former CRNC Executive Director) Lee Atwater. Given the liberal bent in Hollywood, I somehow doubt that they are going to cast him in the best light, but his was certainly a career worth learning about.
