Illinois CR State Covnention

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

I’m in Chicago today, at the Hilton Towers, attending the ICRF convention. So far its been a fantastic event, good attendance, a great panel this morning, and a lot of interesting speakers this afternoon.

I just finished up my spiel, and despite some technical difficulty early on I think it was largely well received. Questions centered on the STORM network, and hopefully we’ll get some of these kids applying to be field reps in the fall. They have some great activists out here, its an exciting time to be an IL CR.

Update -

Elections have just wrapped up.  Congratulations are due to Meagan Szydloski, who led her slate to a unanimous victory.

The assembled delegates have new moved on to assembling their plan if action for the year ahead.

A nice shout out

Anyone who watched the campaign for National Chairman last year knows that an important voice throughout was the most famous (or infamous depending on your take) of CR blogs, Truth Caucus. While I’m not sure it was a compliment, he threw up one of my favorite photos of the National Officers.  And he’s right, the times are changing: being youthful, positive, and inspired is good for us and good for the party.

Moving on up…

Today Gov. Bobby Jindal was sworn in as governor of the state of Louisiana. His promotion from Congressman Jindal to Governor Jindal happened despite the supposedly “sour” mood sweeping the nation concerning the Republican Party.

This is not the only promotion Gov. Jindal has experienced in Republican politics - I have heard that he was once a College Republican Chapter Chairman at Brown University and State Chairman of Rhode Island…

2007 CRNC Awards

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

I’d like to thank…

This year, the CRNC is giving out its award via a YouTube video. The winners are in the vid above, and each will receive a small block grant from the CRNC for their tremendous work this year. As we move into 2008, all CR organizations will have opportunities to be rewarded for their hard work through incentives from the national organization. Recruitment, voter registration, GOTV, and activism on campus are where CRs can make an impact all over the nation.

So, congratulations to this year’s winner and let’s all get to back work!
